Brian Eno Calls On Support to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Lullaby to UK Festive Top Spot.
A campaign is aiming to send a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The project seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
An Opportunity for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who contributes to the track, stated that the song titled Lullaby represents a chance to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He noted the potential for an surprise number one.
“That would be amazing if that occurred, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it fails to, holiday tracks are a unique phenomenon.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's defiant core message.
“It has a very special place for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “It’s basically saying that I would rather die in dignity than spend my life without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a dignified life that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Featured Artists
The song was recorded in the wake of a solidarity show held in the autumn. Originally intended to be captured during the live event, the rendition was cut from the show due to time constraints.
The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby features a selection of prominent voices from the industry. All were part of the earlier concert, which managed to collect a considerable total for relief efforts.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was brought to life by a trio of producers and composers. The single showcases a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the project have emphasized that their objective is to raise as much as possible for a specific fund. These donations will be channeled to projects in Palestine through an non-profit partner.
“There is no a rigid aim,” a representative explained. “We aim for whatever we can get. Naturally, the greater the amount, the better. Every penny goes out to those in need in Gaza.”
The reality in the region was noted for its widespread damage, with a huge proportion of property said to be levelled or seriously harmed.
“In that context, a couple of million doesn’t make that much difference. But I think what truly matters is above all raising awareness for this issue and proving that another narrative exists.”
The song is set to be released on Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from later in the month.
