Ex- Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have stated that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Legal teams have worked at length to assist a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges come after what police called a “detailed inquiry” into reported assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Offences
The charging documents outline the forty-five charges comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
